made for walking

I recently had the opportunity to participate in a usability session. It was kinda fun - their researcher asked me a bunch of questions and I basically went through the motions of shopping on their site.

(Can I do this every day? Wait. I kinda already do.. Let me rephrase. Can I get paid to do this everyday?)

For my services, they gave me a $75 gift certificate!

I already knew what I wanted to get - been eyeing the Frye Carson boots for a while and was just waiting for the right moment.

As soon as I got the gc, I checked Bing to see what their rate for cashback was and YIPPEEE! It was 40%! (I'm really sad their cashback program is going away at the end of the month..)

Now I need your help. Do I love this color? I definitely love the style - mid-calf, a little bit slouchy. I checked out the dark brown version and I don't think they're really me.. But is this tan too light? Hunny Bunny likes this color more than the dark brown. What do you think?

whistle while you work

Hunny Bunny and I will be spending Presidents' Day/Valentine's weekend in Whistler. No, it won't be a romantic getaway for two - more like eight or nine people piled into a three bedroom townhouse. I. Can't. Wait.

(Did you miss the sarcasm?)

Okay, okay. I'll stop being a brat. Sheesh! I guess I'm just not that keen on spending a long weekend with my not-so-favorite people and their SOs, even though they're in our wedding. Isn't that bad? I really need to be a nicer person.

I'm not a particular fan of one particular friend of HB's. I find him rather condescending and a bit of a chauvanist. Mostly I try to avoid him for fear of offending him as much as he offends me. The other fellows are okay. They make me laugh.

As for the girls, well, I really don't know them. I suppose I haven't really made the effort. One acts a little ditzy.. I say act because I don't think she's actually a ditz. And I don't like girls who act dumb because they think it's cute. It's not. The other one, I might actually like her but haven't had the opportunity to talk to her without the ditz interjecting.

Enough of the complaining! Besides, maybe I'll have a change of heart during the trip and come home with some new BFFs. Here's to the eternally optimistic!

Speaking of optimism, being that this will be my first time up the slopes in three years, I'm pretty nervous. I'm actually only planning to spend a day up there. I don't think this old body can handle the punishment. I was never all that great of a snowboarder so I don't see myself keeping up with anyone.

I made HB promise that he'd stay with me at least part of the day until I'm back on my feet. I know that he'd rather be riding with the boys who are far more talented but having him around makes me a little more confident. I'm not sure what the skill level is for the girls but I don't want them to feel obligated to babysit me. I don't like being the one to slow people down. Somehow I don't feel quite as guilty when it comes to slowing HB down. D'oh! I joke! Not really.

Aside from bringing a book and my knitting, I've been looking for other ways to entertain myself while everyone else is playing in the snow and I found the Solarice Wellness Spa, which is located in the Village.

They have yoga classes and some delicious sounding spa treatments. After a day of pounding, I know that I'll be in need of some major pampering.

I'm trying to decide what treatments to get. It's a tad pricey and sometimes I'd rather spend my money on something tangible - like shoes. (Hopefully we'll have time to stop in Vancouver for a little shopping too! Or at the very least, some yummy dim sum!)

Now I need to get some new gear. I found my goggles and socks and long undies, but I think that's all I have! Need pants and possibly a coat and some mittens. And maybe even a pair of Hunter boots for trekking around the Village!

comfy and cute?? unheard of.

I normally think that Söfft shoes are kinda homely looking. But I'm seriously in lust with the Frederica booties.

They're super cute, right?

And they're crazy cushiony. Like walking on three inch clouds.

And they're only $144. I should just buy them. Ugh. I have no idea why I have such a hard time buying "cheap" shoes for $150 but don't even think about it when I find a pair of sale Pradas for $300. Somehow, knowing that I'm saving $200 makes me feel better.

I've been looking at these for practically a month now and I keep going back the store to try them on. What's wrong with me?

HB loves me because I'm neurotic. Well, maybe not. But at least he accepts it. That's good enough for me!

these don't count

I swear it's because of the impending bad weather that I can't stop looking at boots.

I took a break and tried these Aldo booties on and they're soooo cute! I don't even like Aldo but these booties don't look like some cheap knockoff.. Or do they and I'm just out of it?

I liked the purple ones too.

I'm keeping my eye on them. They're not expensive but why pay regular price. They're bound to go on sale and then I'll love them more!

like i need another pair

And yes, they're icky Steven by Steve Maddens.

But they're actually comfortable and I like the color and I like the fit and I like the wedge heel and I just plain like them. Oh and Nordstrom had triple points over the weekend. And I just returned a bunch of other stuff that I shouldn't have bought in the first place.

Ok. I'm done trying to justify it.

They didn't have them in my size so I'm having them sent to me. HURRY!!!

the old man is snoring...

How cute are these Loeffler Randall rain boots?? I was just think that I needed to invest in a pair after I stepped into a ginormous puddle the other day.

(Yes, it's been rainy in Seattle. Hardy har har. You can stop gloating now.)

I'm obsessed with boots!

i likey

I went to Urban Outfitters during lunch on my feather quest and what do I find instead? These adorable slouchy boots!

They're not exactly the Loeffler Randall Mathilde boots that I've been oohing and aahing over for months but these are like $600 cheaper too!

I mean if I wanted to spend that much money on some boots, I'd be getting these
delectable Valentino ankle booties!

Just dreaming.

Ahem! So I think I'll return those UGG boots that I bought during the boring Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and pick these little guys up.

she got it from her mama

As I ruefully perused the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (again!) with mommy looking over my shoulder, I pointed out the adorable Ugg boots and said that if I were to buy anything during the sale, it would be those!

Mommy dearest said that I must get them! She thought they were as adorable as I did and said I could never go wrong with such comfy shoes. Besides, I could always return them if I changed my mind but if they sold out, then I'd be kicking myself. Hmmm. She does have a point.

Honestly, who am I to question her? She's so much more worldly and wise than I.

i hope it stays cold..

So then I can wear my new boots!

They were such a steal at under $60 on Piperlime! Yeah, yeah... I know they're just Nine West and not the Loeffler Randalls that I really want, but the Loeffler boots are damn near $700! I'll wait for those to go on sale.

In the meantime, I'll enjoy my new suede boots..

No thanks to Nicole!

smack me

My cousin just bought these Loeffler Randall Matilde boots in patent leather. I hate her. They were originally $695 but she bought them for $200! You hear that Veen? I hate you!

Now I've been obsessing about the camel colored ones. They would look so fabulous with Chloe!

What am I saying? It's April. I should be thinking gladiator sandals and beaches. They're not even on sale!

Where's that tax rebate when I need it?

very bad things

I went to the Eastside Upside Down sale early Saturday morning. I bee-lined over to the Posh on Main sale racks to see if I would be lucky enough to find the Sigerson Morrison boots I had been coveting since probably October. They were originally $650 I'd watched them go down from 30% off to 50% off and still I felt they were too expensive.

Guess how much I found them for??? $100! Wawaweewah!
But can I be more annoyed? I wore them for the first time today and already I got the heel caught in a crack in the cement and the leather is all scraped. I suck.)

I also got this Lauren Merkin clutch for $50 from $180. The one I bought is a faded navy blue.

And then I bought two dresses. Including this fun Anna Sui one.

How could I resist it at $63?
(I don't remember who the designer is for the other dress I bought.. It was way too big, but I knew it wouldn't be too expensive to have it taken in so I dropped it off at my alteration lady's.

Obviously, my budget just got thrown out the window. I guess no shopping until July for me!

free for me

Damn these big feet.. Barneys had these gorgeous Chloe boots on sale and had they had my size, I would've totally bought them. Alas, they only had a 6 and my boat feet couldn't even pretend to fit them.

So instead I bought this Vince sweater. It's super warm and I love how the belt is hidden.. The straps just poke out of holes in the front. I got it in a charcoal color. It was 60% off! But really it was free since I had my gift cards from Christmas.

I also bought a cotton Vince top for $19. I didn't really need it but how often do you find something at Barneys for that price?

Besides, I've decided on a new rule... It doesn't really count as shopping if it's under $20. That's why I bought two tops at Old Navy yesterday. They were $7 each. Not shopping at all. Yep. Not shopping at all.

nice bootie

I've been coveting these Sigerson Morrison booties ever since I took that Ferris Bueller's Day Off. They're on sale now at Posh on Main but with only a 30% discount. *sigh* That's still $455.

Aren't they super cute though?

f.m.b.

If there ever were a pair of eff me boots, these Chinese Laundry "Top" boots are it!

I need to go try them on and see how they feel. They're relatively inexpensive and they'd be fun with short skirts (but not so short that my ba-dunk-a-dunk hangs out!) and slim jeans or leggings.

Get 'em at zappos.
