pays to wake up early on the weekend

I skipped my Saturday morning run with my dad so I could go to the Nordstrom Cosmetics Trend Show in downtown Seattle. (I didn't feel too guilty because it was raining/snowing anyway!)

This was my second time attending this event. It's bad because I'm always a sucker for makeovers and new products!

I may not know what I'm going to do with it, but I'm still gonna buy it.

Anysomuchforbeingarecessionista, the Trend Show is basically a fashion show for makeup. During the show, they also have several drawings for random prizes...

I wasn't expecting to win anything. In fact, I was in the middle of digging in my bag when my name was suddenly announced. I'm pretty sure my hand just flew up and I just yelled "ME!" (Think Reese Witherspoon in Legally Blonde when she found out she got the final internship spot... Ha! )

And I won what I felt was the best prize - a Chanel cosmetics gift bag! Other prizes were simply creams and lotions and mascaras. This is what was included in mine:

  • a full size Ombre Essentielle eyeshadow in safari (gorg gray color)
  • a full size Rouge Hydrabase lipstick in aura (sheer pink color)
  • a deluxe sample of Precision Beaute Initiale Eye cream
  • a deluxe sample fo Chanel No 5
  • and a sample of Chanel No 5 fluid body gel
Even the lovelies sitting in front of me turned around to say how jealous they were!

and it gets awesomer

Hunny Bunny's mom has never given me a Christmas gift. And I never expected one, especially since we've never spent the holiday together! I suppose because of the impending nuptials, she decided to send me a little package - a gift card to Nordstrom! Momma Bunny knows me so well.

Anylucky, MB didn't write how much was on the card so I decided to call the hotline and see what the balance was. To my utter delight, the card had an extra 'zero' to number I was thinking. I won't go into details because talking about money is soooo tacky, but let's just say it was nearly enough for me to pay for both of these teeteringly tall beauties that I had presaled on Christmas Eve to be picked up on Boxing Day.

I had a couple other gift cards (thanks Veen!) and only had to pay $25 to cover the rest.

I heart these grey Miu Miu suede booties.

There's just a little bit of a hidden platform so they're not that high.

And the Jimmy Choo T-strap Mary Janes? Fahgettaboutit!

Sure they're sky high and I can barely walk, but dang it. I'll get used to it, right? I mean after my snowboarding accident three years ago, I really haven't been that adventurous in heels. I think its high time I get back to wearing them. Don't you agree?

What better way to recover than to jump right back in? Feet first.

Thanks for the shoe spree Momma Bunny!

One side note, Hunny Bunny was a little peeved that all he got for Christmas from his momma was some long underwear. Better than lumps of coal, I say!

supergirl

Every superhero should have a cape. Mine just happens to be a light grey Loeffler Randall one on sale at Nordstrom!
There aren't enough fashionable superheroes out there.

LRB's here to save the day!

Or at least save 40% off the regular price. Did you buy anything at the Nordstrom Half Yearly sale? I checked out the shoes but wasn't overly impressed with their designer selection.

I did, however, presale this Elizabeth & James blazer too. I guess it's not going on sale until next Tuesday. Weird, right? Anysale, it was 60% off and I could use a new blazer. I like how the sleeves are ruched up and it's kinda got a tuxedo feel to it. Not really sure how I'm going to style it yet, but it definitely has potential.

she got it from her mama

As I ruefully perused the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (again!) with mommy looking over my shoulder, I pointed out the adorable Ugg boots and said that if I were to buy anything during the sale, it would be those!

Mommy dearest said that I must get them! She thought they were as adorable as I did and said I could never go wrong with such comfy shoes. Besides, I could always return them if I changed my mind but if they sold out, then I'd be kicking myself. Hmmm. She does have a point.

Honestly, who am I to question her? She's so much more worldly and wise than I.

definitely not

Did you get your Nordstrom Anniversary Sale catalogue yet?

I know I'm soooo not supposed to buy anything and I'm really going to try to be good-ish.

I'm definitely not going to schedule an appointment so I can preview (and PRESALE) all the wonderful fall clothes. And I'm definitely not going to look at the famous maker dress that's pictured. And I'm definitely not going to look at those knitted UGG boots. And I'm definitely not going to see what kind of fabulous makeup collections are available. And I'm definitely not going to take advantage of the double points promotion.

I was really good at last year's sale. I didn't take the day off for the sale and I only bought one Dior makeup palette and a giant bottle of Philosophy's Purity Made Simple. I gotta remind myself that everything is only 40% off. I need at least 50% off to make it justifiable!

Besides, I hate walking down the street seeing five girls wearing the same outfit as me! Yes. I'll keep telling myself that this sale is overrated. Uh huh. Yep.

practically stealing!

Designer bags are going to be 60% off starting tomorrow at Nordstrom. They're doing presales right now! Go, go, GOOOOO!

I was looking at this lovely Jimmy Choo Malena bag that I hadn't seen on sale before (and I check weekly!) and commented about it to the sales gal and she was like, "Oh we have a ton of different bags just sitting in the back."

Don't you think it's kinda unheard of to find a black leather bag on sale for 60% off? Hello, McFly? When was the last time you found a decently sized bag for under $1K?

Anyway, I surmised that they're trying make it seem like there's only a small selection of bags left over so there's more of a frenzy. But in fact, they just keep replenishing from the back! I'm on to you Uncle Nordies! Watch out!

Hmmm.. Maybe it's just the Seattle store where there aren't as many designer bag hoarders like me around!

burp

Did you get Nordstrom's email with the hot new Burberry shoes?

OMG. Who knew that Burberry could bring the sexy back?

I'll have to get a pair - in six months when they go on sale! Check out the rest of the line here.

I'm seriously loving the patent booties and the grey peep toes. Yum!

should i or shouldn't i?

I've been drooling over this Diane von Furstenberg jacket for months and months (since Bumbershoot weekend!) and now it's finally on sale! Originally $525, now it's $315. That's still bank.

Don't look at this link because I saw it first and you can't buy it.

come home

This is the Chloe back that I'd be drooling over for the longest time. I really want the black one, but of course only the ivory one is one sale for 40% off. Oh me oh my... What do I do??

Right brain: I really want a new bag!

Left brain: But I really want a BLACK bag..

RB: But this one is on sale!

LB: But it's not exactly the one I want..

RB: But it's ON SALE!

LB: I know, I know..

I'll let the brains duke it out for a couple hours.. Maybe the bag will be sold by the time I get to Nordstrom. Other Chloes are on sale now too!

resistance is futile

I just got an email from a salesgal at the Bellevue Nordstrom and she said there will be markdowns on Chloe, Marc Jacobs, Hogan "and many other designer handbags"! Eep! I might need to check it out. Usually their bags start at 33% off, sometimes if you're lucky, they're 40% off. Fingers crossed!

Here's the top that I bought at Target yesterday...

And here is the little jacket that someone else should buy (just because it's really cute..)
