nice and naughty

My darling bridesmaids threw me the most wonderful bridal shower ever! All of my friends, aunties, ang cousins came. Even gramma showed up - though she was antsy to leave because she wanted to go play poker!

I couldn't ask for anything better.

There were peach and raspberry bellinis! Yum! Limoncello! Yum!

Mini sandwiches! Yum. Egg salad! YUM. So thoughtful of mango to remember my favorite kind of sandwich.

We played games. Hello? Toilet paper wedding gowns? Love it!

Loved it even more after seeing Auntie Po! Had to choose her as the winner. Only at a bridal shower would you see a 70+ year old lady wearing a toilet paper dress with coffee filter boob holders!

And some sneaky-sneak snuck a little treat in my bag during one of the games. Candy-flavored condom anyone? (I think it's still in my purse.)

But that wasn't the funniest part. When asked who had a condom in her purse, Auntie Po said, "Oh all these young girls will have them!"

And then it was time for gifts! Got this lovely Cuisinart Griddler. It's like the Chanel of George Foreman Grills.

Then I opened the gift of all gifts. The Kitchen Aid Mixer. Not the little one. The big one. EEKS!

Can't wait to use it!

My silly 13 year old niece bought me a whole bunch of Victoria's Secret panties. Gigantic brief style ones cos she thinks I'm one of those old ladies.

One of the most useful gifts was a pillow case. One side says, In the mood. The other side says, Not in the mood.

Hunny Bunny got a gift too - a man-pouch made of candy!

I guess you could count this little pink number as a gift for him as well!

With matching pink furry handcuffs, of course.

So many underthings!

Off to my
bachelorette weekend
! Wonder if I should bring any of this stuff...

what's your return policy?

Because I just got laid off and am about to be bah-roke.

Well, not really. But still. It's kinda scary since for the last 9 months or so, I've been working so much and have been so busy. To go from working 50+ hours a week to napping on the couch at 2:30 pm (I woke up early to go to bootcamp this morning, okay?!) is a huge difference.

I was pretty much in a daze most of the afternoon yesterday. Did that really happen? Several people had already been let go that morning. But they're manager was kind enough to give them some notice. It would have been so much kinder and gentler had I known. Did they really think I was going to sabotage something? Instead, I look down at my caller ID and see the HR guy's name.

Oh f*ck.

My heart sank. I quickly sent some of my personal stuff on my hard drive to my personal email and went into the meeting.

Blah blah blah. Financial situation. Blah blah. You'll have 20 minutes before your computer is shut down. Blah.

Trying to stay positive. I still have my 2nd job and my manager there is going to see if they can give me more hours. I'm still hoping that this will eventually turn full time. Really, this could be a blessing in disguise.

In the meantime, I do need a break. I've been exhausted!

I filed for unemployment and have nothing planned. I guess I'll figure out later. This is the first time since I finished college nearly 10 years ago that I haven't been employed full time. I'm a little scared.. And even more excited.

Watch out!

early bird

Ever since I started my morning workouts, it seems as though I'm not able to sleep in any more. Even on the weekends, the latest I can sleep 'til is probably about 7. Gawd. If that isn't the sign of old age, I don't know what is.

Anygeezer, this weekend was no different.

By the time it was 2:30 in the afternoon, I had already:

  • taken a long walk (with some lunges and high knee lifts thrown in the mix!) with little Napolean
  • showered and dressed
  • had brunch at Bario (yummy btw)
  • cleaned up dog barf in my car (don't ask)
  • bought coffee
  • gone canoeing
  • saw a man at the lake wearing a thong whilst canoeing
  • and got fitted for new running shoes (haven't decided yet)

I think it's kinda rubbing off on Hunny Bunny too because he was pretty much up and at 'em (or should I say bright-eyed and bushy-tailed? Get? Bunny? Bushy-tail? FAIL.) by the time I got back from the walk!

oh no she didn't!

It's that time of year again - time for the crazies to come out.

Sakura Con 2009!

Every year there's a convention in downtown Seattle for hmmm.. I'm not exactly sure what.. Anime? Video games? Whatever it is, these broads are definitely not Harajuku girls.

D'oh!

misty

So the Seattle-area dog lovers have been all abuzz about the discovery of a puppy mill with hundreds and hundreds of little doggies crammed in squalid conditions. I guess a lot of the dogs are pregnant too so there are about to hundreds more.

You can read all about it in The Seattle Times. It really breaks my heart knowing that someone could be so cruel.

Anysweetheart, my thirteen-year-old niece has decided to donate her Chinese New Year red envelope money to help the dogs! I was so proud and moved by her gesture that I too decided to donate as well.

Hunny Bunny and I are thinking about adopting one too. We'd been talking about getting a dog for a while now and it seems like this would be a great opportunity.

I hope you'll consider donating to the animal shelter near you! And remember to spay or neuter your pets.

Love ya!

hahahahahaha

Did you totally laugh when Whitney got shut down by Olivia Palermo on The City? And not in the Rachel Zoe shut it down way.

"That's way too much information for me to be hearing. I don't want to hear any of it. You're what? 23? I mean you're an adult."

HAHAHAHA.

stir crazy

It's a mutha effin' winter wonderland out there! This is the view outside of my window.

Don't get me wrong, I love the snow. It's just not as fun when I have to go in to work. Not only am I almost out of vacation time (they're closing the office between Christmas and New Year's and making us use our vacay, as a cost saving measure) but I also had a couple deadlines to meet - so much for hording time off for the wedding!

Anyway, the snow is crazy deep. I'd say a good 12 inches or so at home. Almost to the top of my tall Ugg boots! I don't think I've ever seen that much snow without heading to the slopes.

I guess it's good that I'm at least out of the house now. Spent most of yesterday watching Dexter DVDs. Have you seen that show? Hunny Bunny heard it was good so he got a hold of them. It's a tad disturbing but enjoyable. I'm just glad it's not super gory especially since it's about a serial killer.

On a lighter note, I was complaining to my boss about how hot it was in the office and he told me I should take off some of my layers. Ugh. I just stared at him and retorted indignantly, "Umm.. This is an outfit. I can't just 'take off a layer.'" Duh.

falling apart

Dude... I've had the worst week ever. Ok. Maybe not ever but the worst in a long time.

Let's see, first it started with my neck. No idea what happened - it just started getting unbelievably sore and stiff. To the point where I couldn't even turn my heard. It was like I had whiplash. After three days of turning from my waist, I'm finally more mobile today. I can actually shake my head "no" now. Woohoo!

Then I broke out in a crazy rash from what I'm assuming was an allergic reaction to the antibiotics I'd been taking. I'm still itchy and I look like I have the chicken pox. I've stopped taking the antibiotics but the rash may last for several days yet.

Now I have a nasty sore throat. I can't swallow without wincing.

Is this my body telling me that I'm an damaged, old lady with ailments left and right? This better not be a regular issue. I've got things to do!

So that's where I've been, in case you were wondering what sort of fabulous thing I've been up to for the past week or so.

Check out my wedding blog though, I'll be adding a couple posts soon!

life saver

Big purse stops bullet from hitting Tenn. student

Don't knock those trendy, oversized purses - they could save your life, as one college student found out.

Read on at The Seattle Times.

Even more justification for all my big bags!

heading south-ish

Mango and I are heading down to Portland, OR for a day of tax-free shopping this weekend. We've been scopin' out restaurants for the past couple days and have settled on two.

The Oregonian recommended Belly Timber so we're going to try it for brunch. Their Belly Benedict sounds scrumptious with poached eggs, roasted pork belly and hollandaise. Anything with pork belly is divine!

...shop..shop..shop...

And finally, since we don't want to drive home too late, we decided we'll eat supper some where in between Seattle and Portland. A quick search for diners along Interstate 5 came up with the Country Cousin in Centralia.

My brother Jack is somewhat concerned for our safety since we'll be two Asian girls in a predominately er... non-Asian area. I told him not to worry because I plan to wear my Obama shirt that day. D'oh. I joke, I joke.

From pork belly to greasy spoon. I hope I don't die of a heart attack on the way home. *burp*

round 3

Or is it 4? I can't keep track these days. Coworkers are dropping like flies around here and we just received another company-wide email about anticipating even more layoffs.

All this bad news makes me want to shop. That's probably bad right?

At least I'm totally crazy and took up a part time contracting job. It's kinda more what I want to do anyway but they didn't have anything full time. So I'll be working on my own time from home. Will be nice to have to some extra money for the wedding or Chanel or Louboutin or Choo.

Besides, I pretty much have no life these days so I might as well do some work and get P-A-I-D.

I start training next week. Good thing they're providing me with a laptop. Mine is crap and I'd rather spend my hard earned dolla-dolla-bills-y'all on a bag for the laptop than the actual laptop.

sleepy time

The next Project Runway contestant? Not so much. Then again, I didn't design these ginormous clown pants. I just followed the directions!

So this is the final product of my sewing class. Needless to say, I will not be using the pattern for these again! Completely unflattering. I swear my legs don't look like tree stumps. That much.

But it was definitely fun learing how to sew!

I want a sewing machine for my bday (in 12 days!) Make it happen.

tag team back again

4 things I did today:

  • Put 10 items in the Forever 21 shopping cart; I did not check out.
  • Told my coworker that she looks like a watermelon because she's wearing pink pants and a bright green shirt.
  • Looked up the word curmudgeon because my brother called me that. (Btw, it means a crusty, ill-tempered, and usually old man. D'oh!)
  • Checked my boss's calendar to see if it had any clues about when we're getting our bonus.

4 things on my to do list:

  • Quit the gym I belong to now and find another one closer to home with a pool.
  • Read the stack of magazines that just arrived in the mail.
  • Catch up on Gossip Girl, The Hills, Rachael Zoe Project, Prison Break.. DVR!
  • Make an appointment to go threading because it's starting to look more like eyebrow than eyebrows.

4 of my guiltiest pleasures:

  • I looooove new socks and underwear. When I was a teenager, my favorite kind were from Mervyn's and I would buy them everytime there was a special for 5 pairs for $10 or was it 10 pairs for $5? Nowadays I like Calvin Klein Naked.
  • Sprinkling truffle salt over everything - popcorn, roast chicken, risotto, pasta... Yum.
  • Going to the Puyallup Fair at the end of Summer: eating Young Life BBQ beef sandwiches, roasted corn, scones, baked potatoes, roasted corn, caramel apple towers, roasted corn, turkey legs; watching demonstrations on the latest home gadgets; looking at the cows while I'm eating one of the aforementioned beef sandwiches and shouting, "Say goodbye to your friends!"
  • Getting massages and facials and pedicures.. Pamper me!

4 random facts about me:

  • I can put my fist in my mouth.
  • The fish oil that I've been taking gives me lemon-flavored burps.
  • My meatloaf consists of 2lbs of ground beef, 1 lb of ground veal, 1 lb of ground pork followed by 1 lb of bacon which is layered on top of the loaf. Don't you dare put ketchup on it!
  • I was formally known as the 1st Princess in the Miss Seattle Chinatown Scholarship Pageant. Don't ask.

I tag these 4:
