HB HB!

Happy birthday, Hunny Bunny!

To celebrate this joyous occasion, HB's office mates decided to hold a canned food drive in his honor because he's so damn skinny! (In case you can't read the banners, they all say "I am hungry, please feed me!") They're so thoughtful.

I sure hope he gets some nibblets and chicken noodle soup.

smoochies my darling!

hot mess

I finally got a new curling iron. But dammit if it wasn't the most trying shopping event ever. And you know I looooove shopping! Any kind of shopping.

I started researching my curling iron a couple weeks ago. I really wanted a large barrel one and decided that the Hot Tools 2" curling iron was the best value. Anyway, I found it online but it was only $2 off the regular price and I had to pay shipping. I hate to pay shipping but the only way to get free shipping was to spend $50 and I really had nothing else to buy.

So then I went to a local beauty supply store. They only had the 1.5" one. Ugh. I couldn't decide. Not to mention they'd end up costing me the same (about $40) because of the tax so really I wasn't saving anything.

Another week passed and I was still vascillating. Decided to go to the beauty supply store again and look at the 1.5" and finally came to the conclusion that I really wanted the 2". Then Hunny Bunny and I made a stop at the nearby Target. As we were leaving, HB asked me where my car keys were.

Uhhhh. I didn't have them. I didn't even have my purse to put them in.. Besides, he was driving my car.

Ummmm. We ran back to the Rack because he had tried on some shorts - maybe he left them in the dressing room. No luck. He ran over to the beauty supply store. Yay! He left them on the counter!

Boo. The store was closed and the gate was shut. Double boo. We could see the keys from the window.

Steam, then flames, followed by an unhealthy dose of cursing. Who knew I had such a potty mouth?

GODD*&)$*!&)! MUTHA%&)!@&#!)!!! SONOFA%&@*)&$">SONOFA%&@*)&$!!! I said.

Sorry. He said.

And being the lazy butthead that he is, he had decided to leave his own set of keys at home. With my keys locked in a cage and his keys locked at home you can't imagine how pissed I was.

Luckily, my brother was home and was able to bring my spare car keys. I was very tempted to make HB sleep in the garage, but instead he was condemned to the couch.

And then I found my curling iron on ebay for $25.

seafeast

Ever since Crawfish King opened last month, Hunny Bunny has been obsessed with those little mudbugs. He just can't seem to get enough!

We started with a mere four pounds (!) of spicy deliciousness..

I guess the season for crawfish season just barely started so they're not that big and juicy. But that's okay. We still got our grub on!

Can you believe we two hungry monkeys ate it all?

Savages.

long weekend part ii - valentine's day

Saturday:
HB is not exactly known for his romantic gestures. This Valentine's Day was no different. Spent the early part of the day attempting to revive my inner shred Betty. Not so much. I'm just thankful that I'm not quite back to square one. In fact, I'm definitely back to where I ended the last time I rode. Muscle memory? Perhaps. Refusing to let HB doubt my mad skills? Heck yeah.

Anyway, after several runs I wasn't falling. That much. Anymore. And by then HB was only yelling at me a little bit.

Not to be outdone by the morning's festivities, the rest of the day proved to be even more wondrous. During our stroll through Whistler Village, HB treated me to an artery clogging treat - poutine!

This mouthwatering load of smothered and covered goodness has truly mystical powers - I was in a daze after making mouth-love to fries covered in cheese curds and gravy and hot sauce.

Dinner was mostly uneventful. Because of V-day, all the Village restaurants were booked so we decided to stay in and make dinner in our condo. HB's bff's non-gf made a lovely roast that HB stole from me after I barely ate half.

All this was followed by a rousing game of Texas hold 'em. And lots and lots of drinking. Which led to this:

Not exactly HB's crowning moment.

He'll probably kill me after he realizes that I've exposed his weakest moment. D'oh! Not that he doesn't deserve to feel a little chagrin.. It's not like he didn't go barfing over the balcony. To be honest, I've never seen him that trashed before. And I never want to see it again. Icky.

P.S. At least he finally got his hair cut. I have no idea what his latest obsession with hobos is all about.

long weekend part i

Thursday:
Made Hunny Bunny promise that we would stop at the Lululemon outlet on the way to Vancouver. Promised that I wouldn't take too long. *fingers crossed*

Friday:
Late start to a long drive. Went on a last minute morning run with my dad. Had a little breakfast with the folks and then went to pick HB up.

Can you guess what I was doing during the car ride? Texting Mango to order sale items from eLuxury on my behalf! It was an additional 50% off the sale price after all... Not to mention she had an additional 25% off discount too!

For under $60, don't you think the JBrand Lovestory jeans are a must have?

And I kinda love these Y-3 flats. I need comfy shoes after buying all those high heels during the holidays! I'm all about balance.... D'oh.

Two hours later later we arrived at Lululemon heaven and I spend a short (or long depending on who you ask) hour deciding if I really need another yoga top and calling Mango to see if she also didn't need another yoga top. I finally concluded that no, I didn't need a new yoga top but that I did need a new running jacket, sports bra top and yoga pants!

All were 50% off or more. Natch.

Stopped at the Duty Free shop as we crossed the border to pick up some tax-free booze. That's when I realized they now carry Smashbox! I had to pick up their primer and fan brush.

We finally reached Richmond, B.C. for a comforting lunch of congee and noodle soup. I also grabbed some yummy snacks at the nearby bakery including my favorite pastry of them all - Hot Dog Buns!

I know, it sounds totally weird but it's sooooo good.

No more shopping for the rest of the drive because my iPhone doesn't work in the land of Canucks.

Oh Whistler, my dahling... Did you miss me? I missed you!

...to be continued...

he thinks therefore he is... THE BEST!

I really shouldn't be making such a big deal out of this Christmast gift because after five years, shouldn't Hunny Bunny know what I love? Hello? Just look at my blog and there are tons of ideas on what to get your favorite girl - it's basically one big shopping list.

But since my hints are not so obvious to someone so oblivious, I suppose it's quite the momentous occassion when HB actually goes into Barneys by himself and chooses something lovely by himself for his lovely (that's me).

Previous Christmases and birthdays and other celebrations included either electronic items, such as iPods and iPhones, or gift cards - not the most romantic or thoughtful. But I've come to accept and expect it so imagine my surprise when he handed me the big blue box (unwrapped no less)!

How much do you love these navy patent Lanvin ballet pumps? Not something I would buy for myself, mainly because for the price, I'd buy something less sensible. I've always admired them though. Did I mention they were Lanvin? AND navy patent?

In between all the squealing and hugging, I made sure to reiterate that designer shoes = happy LRB, always.

shirt tales

As you all know, I love my fiance dearly. I mean, I'm even planning to marry the bozo. Sadly, after last night's revelation, I really think I need to reconsider.

It's come to my attention that Hunny Bunny has only recently (and by recently I mean a few days ago) discovered that you can unbutton the button on the cuff of the shirt in order to roll the sleeves up.

*shaking head*

It just never dawned on him how other people could so easily and neatly roll up that sleeve! I just stared at him blankly.

On another note, do you remember that cartoon "Shirt Tales?"

save the cheerleader, save the world

Scene: Me watching Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team.

Hunny Bunny: Are you watching that cheerleader show again?

Me: Yeah. It's kinda fun.

HB: Don't you think it's kind of sexist?

Me: What do you mean?

HB: Maybe "sexist" isn't the word. But those coaches are always tellings those girls they're fat and need to lose weight.

Me: Oh.. I guess so..

HB: That's just wrong! They're not fat! They shouldn't say things like that. It'll give them an eating disorder.

Me: Wow. You actually care about them??

HB: No. I'm just saying...

Me: Uh huh.. sure...

Friday, September 19, 2008

puh-lease....

LRB: I dreamt about spiders last night and kept waking up.

HB: Oh really? What was I doing?

LRB: Ugh. You don't exist in my dreams.

HB: Right. It's because I'm not a dream any more. I'm your reality. You lucky girl.

LRB: rolling eyes Can I puke now?

he's not that romantic

And honestly, neither am I. But as unromantic as both of us can be, Hunny Bunny and I decided to get engaged!

Last Saturday, while I was working at my parents' jewelry shop, HB came and took me to lunch. After lunch, he came into the shop for a visit and said we should look at rings. I showed him the one I liked though I didn't actually think he was serious but my hilarious mom made him fill out an invoice! Ha! Good little mommy!

And then he left. Did that just happen?

Later that night, as we were heading to our neighborhood drugstore, I had to ask. "Uhhh.. Are we engaged?"

"Sure."

That's so us.

I didn't want to really tell anyone until I had the ring so I'd been keeping mum all week. Let me tell you, I felt like barfing the whole time! I've been totally anxious and unable to sleep! Basically a nervous wreck.

Then yesterday after work, we went to pick up the ring!!

This is where it gets even less romantic (if that was possible!)... He handed me the box as we left the shop. (He was rushing me because he was parked illegally!)

I jokingly said "Aren't you going to put the ring on my finger?"

"No. You know that's not my style."

And then he dropped me off to have dinner with my girlfriends. That took all of 30 minutes.

Dum dum da dum....

frosting

So I'd been kinda, sorta complaining to Hunny Bunny that I'm just not that good at accessorizing. I have a handful of jewelry from my parents' shop that I just rotate but I'm not adventurous when it comes to the costume-y stuff - you know, statement pieces.

Lo and behold, HB actually paid attention! He bought me this set of pretty enamel bangles from Banana Republic to get me started on my new adventure in accessorizing. Granted, they were in the clearance bin for $4, but still.

Now I just need to figure out when/where to wear them.

And then I need to figure out how to get him to accessorize a certain little finger next.. Hmm.

rascally rabbit!

Hunny Bunny and I went to play a quick 9-holes yesterday. It was a bit crowded though and we were the last in line. By the time we reached hole-3, we realized what a traffic jam there was and decided just to mess around back at holes 1 and 2 until it was our turn.

I started practicing my putting at the first hole - minding my own beeswax. Next thing you know, I hear HB saying "Oooh!"

Not "Fore!"

Not "Heads up!"

Nope. When I look up, I see his ball come flying in my direction. I tried to hop out of the way but alas, Mr. Ball - meet Miss Ankle.

OOOOOOOOOOWWWWWW!!!! Followed by massive amounts of effs and esses and a quickly swelling ankle. So our short set was even shorter. I could barely walk to the car and HB could barely contain his laughter.

"My eyes are watering because of allergies! I swear!" Likely story. Those are more like tears from stifling the giggles. STOP EFFING LAUGHING.

Just what I need. A fat ankle a week before our trip to Mexico. Grassy-ass indeed!

wordsmith

Hunny Bunny has taken to calling me Baby-Girl of late. I can't stand it! I find it completely misogynistic. Am I some hip hop video vixen? I think not. You won't catch me writhing on the floor with Young Jeezy.

Anyway, pay back's a bitch and so am I.

So every time he calls me Baby-Girl, I call him Lady-Boy! That oughta teach him a lesson.

enough about you.. let's get back to me!

HB's bday weekened is finally over and I can finally be back to my normal self-absorbed self and start thinking about my bday in October. It's never too early to start hinting at what I want! *wink*

Dinner was fabulous! Props to Miss TamPham for the tip about telling the folks at The Capital Grille that it was a bday celebration! We got a free slice of the most decadent flourless chocolate cake! Yum!

But that wasn't even the best part!

I got multiple compliments on my new F21 dress from complete strangers - and stranger-compliments are the best because unlike your friends who have to tell you you look cute, strangers can totally ignore you. So if you look good enough for them to say something, then you're probably doing something right! Don't you agree? I looked hot sashaying to the ladies' room.

family circus

As you all know, it was HB's birthday yesterday and at his behest, we had dinner at Benihana. I'm definitely not opposed to dinner and show - and what a show we got! Forget about Kaz and his knife/spatula wielding skills.. I'm talking about the family of six with whom we shared a table. Let me introduce them.

There was Momma who seemed doting and probably spoils her kids. There was an 11-year-old Jonah Hill-mini me, curly hair and all. Seemed like a happy kid who thought the onion-train was the best thing EVER! Next to him was baby sister age 9 - also quite happy and pleasant.

Papa was next. He looked like a hands-off dad e.g. "Let Momma handle everything, I'm just gonna pay for stuff." He's followed by Gramma who's starting to get a little looney.

Finally, we arrive at the last family member - the one who just doesn't quite fit in. Yep. A 15-year old, angry, pimply, black hoodie clad, 125lbs ball of sheer awkwardness. You know the one - in fact, you may have even been that kid.

HB and I were laughing the entire time. "Angsty" was all sorts of uncomfortable. Apparently he was having a friend over at 7:30 pm and he really wanted dinner to be over. Momma and Papa were in no hurry and the other two happy kids wanted to get ice cream. Oh lord. "But Mo-ooom!" You know it's bad when a one-syllable word turns into two-syllables.

Then there's good ol' Gramma in her own little world. You know how they give you a couple dipping sauces? Well, she poured both of her onto her small bowl of fried rice.. And then she took Angsty's two sauces and dumped those on too! Oh it was a glorious sight watching her eat her soupy, saucy rice.

When everyone got their ice cream, Angsty just stormed out and sat in the lobby -seething and grinding his angsty teeth. Momma just smiled and was like "Ok! We'll pack up your leftovers and meet you out there!"

Maybe it was just funny to us. Anyway, our dinner was nothing to write home about but now we have The Capital Grille to look forward to tomorrow! Yay!

And hunny bunny was really happy about the "Perfect Pushups". He was even more happy to realize that I used a gift bag with a pretty wedding cake on it. Hint, hint. AHEM!

you ain't cuz you not

This is what HB has requested for his bday. He wants it wrapped too!

Dude... It's one of those As Seen On TV things. It's available at Walgreens for $20 so guess I should go get it. Simple enough.

I wonder if it even works. It looks kinda lame.

Maybe I should pick up a PedEgg for TamPham while I'm there too. *laughs*

thoughtless

I'm such a bad gf. Hunny Bunny's bday is on Thursday and I have yet to buy him anything. In fact, I told him I'm not buying him anything. I've made dinner reservations for a couple of nights - Benihana for his actual bday because he's always wanted to go there and The Capital Grille for Saturday night because who doesn't like to have a bday steak dinner?

I said that he's getting food as his gift. But that's totally selfish because I get food too! He says he doesn't care but I know I always like have gifts to open. Boo.

Any last minute suggestions? Maybe I should get him a stripper. Hahaha. Or a clown. I'm scared of clowns.

But at least I'm really excited about wearing my new F21 dress on Saturday! Gawd! I am sooooo selfish. Me me me!

he ruins everything

I had an hour and a half massage appointment last night with my new favorite guy. (Usually I only like female massage therapists, but this guy is so good that I can look past his hairy arms..) As I was waiting for my appointment, I played Cooking Mama on my Nintendo DS.

Anyway, as soon as I get on the table, he asked me what game I was playing. Next thing you know, the conversation turns into him telling me all about World of Warcraft and Ever Quest and all those other MMO games. I don't even know what "MMO" means! This is partially my fault because in an effort to be polite, I mentioned that my HB also enjoys playing War-nerds, ahem, Warcraft. So then he delves into the beginning of it all.. Dungeons and Dragons.. Magic..

Doesn't he know that I like complete SILENCE during my rub downs? I don't want to know about how he played Ever Quest for 72 hours straight with only sporadic 5 minute bathroom breaks. I also don't want to know that "elves" are the hottest avatars and that if you get new armor, you have to strip your elf to put it on and the the girl elves have skimpy underclothes and you make make her dance around half naked.

I mean really... Did I really need to know that if you need help in battle, you can choose "speak" and only the players nearby can hear you, but if you choose "shout" the radius is larger? And that you can befriend people online and form groups so you can battle as a team called a guild?? Apparently, hunny bunny is part of a guild. While we were in Spokane, I caught him checking his iPhone constantly. When I asked him what he was looking at, he said he was checking on his guild. I'm like "What? I didn't know you were in a union.."

HB 'fessed up to belonging to a fake guild on W-o-W!

"W-T-F" is more like it!

Did you know that you can actually BUY weapons and gold from other gamers? Yes. Apparently it's some underground industry where people can sell their imaginary pillage and sell it for real money ~ as in cheddah, benjamins, dolla-dolla-bills-y'all! Word on the street, it's quite the industry in China. They have sweatshops of gamers playing and selling their plunder to people who are too lazy to actual earn those rewards.

I blame HB for all of this. He ruined my perfectly silent relationship with my massage therapist. If HB wasn't such a nerd, this conversation would never have escalated into 90 minutes of geek-speak! I'll have to find another silent therapist with magical hands. I can never go back to him for fear that he'll want to continue our conversation. *shudder*

so i didn't totally hate it

Got back from Spo-Compton, as my hb so lovingly calls it, yesterday afternoon. It was an even longer drive because of the traffic between Cle Elum and Easton. At least my left arm is darker than my right arm now, since I was driving.

Thank goodness we left Momma and Papa Bunny's house pretty early. I wanted to make it home in time for my brother's yummy barbecue - steak, chicken wings, oysters, roast veg and shrimp! Delish! My contribution was a chimichurri sauce for the grilled meats. Super duper easy! You should try it:

1 small shallot
1 lemon (I had to add some white vinegar - my lemon was a tad bitter)
couple cloves of minced garlic
bunch of italian parsley
bunch of cilantro
evoo
red pepper flakes
salt/pepper

Pretty much just dump everything into a food processor and grind it up! Voila! Tasty steaky!

Anyway, back to Spokane (hopefully not for a long time!)

This time we decided to bring the little one - my family's doggy Napolean. This was his first trip away from home for so long. He was definitely homesick. But we had fun anyway! I took him for a long walk in the morning since for some reason I've been an early bird.

When HB finally woke up, we headed downtown and toured a park that has this humungous Radio Flyer red wagon. I've always wanted to climb on it, but HB hates looking like a tourist in his hometown. I'm like, uhh.. I AM a tourist! Hater. (I'll have to post the pix later.)

Nap-nap had such a good time at the park! He was running around like mad! And then we went and ruined the fun by leaving him at home with Momma Bunny. Poor little guy was so traumatized! He stayed on his bed (we brought it from home) and didn't come out of our room.

HB and I decided to go to the driving range and hit some balls. I swear, time goes by sooooo slowly in Spokane. It took less than an hour! So then we decided to play 9-holes at the local par-3. That usually takes a couple hours right? Nope. Spokane has this time warp where you try to find stuff to do to kill time and like only 30 minutes pass. I guess it doesn't help when I wake up at 7 am. Phooey.

And my back is kinda sore from the golfing because 1) I haven't played since last summer and 2) I'm just totally out of shape.

After golf, we hit up Northtown Mall. It's probably the lamest mall on the planet. I couldn't even bring myself to buy anything, and I LOOOOOVE buying things. Geez, can we finally get out of this god-forsaken mall? I wasn't even motivated enough to go into the Rack for fear that I'd be superbly disappointed with the lack of designer markdowns.

Ooooh, but good thing Momma Bunny was making dinner at home! She made a feast of salt/pepper crab! Oh my! I was sooooo tired after dinner. Who knew how exhausting eating crab could be?! It's too much work for too little meat.

Sadly, it was only like 7:30 pm and doggy seemed too traumatized from being abandoned in a stranger's house that it didn't look like we could sneak out and catch a movie as planned. We wound up watching PBS with Papa Bunny. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

I went to bed at about 10:30 pm and woke up before 7 am. *sigh* Momma Bunny made up for it by having chow mein ready for an early lunch before our early departure! Yay!

waterlemon

I'm in Spokane with hunny bunny now. Just a short 4.5 hour drive over the mountains.

Momma Bunny is so cute! Nearly everytime I've visited, she has a little gift waiting for me. The first time, she had a bottle of Aveda Brilliant shampoo. The next time, she had a huge tube of Skinceuticals SPF! That stuff is not cheap and you usually have to get it from a dermatologist or spa.

This time, because we've been banished to the unfinished basement (his aunt has occupied HB's room), Momma Bunny bought me some adorable havaiana flip flops so me feet don't get icky from the cement floor! She even had them adorned with three little gems! She's so thoughtful.

And yes, those are my unpedicured feet on the cement floor Boo!

Oh and Momma Bunny is hilarious. She calls watermelon "waterlemon"!
